This course is a natural and practical extension of the Modern Pain Science course which shapes the foundation for the development and application of the principles we use to guide the creating of a powerful positive encounter with our patients that has a transformative effect on beliefs, behavior, function, and pain.
We investigate the many ways we can modify symptoms such as pain, muscle tension and the ability to move quickly by playing with processing placing the brain and the nervous system in the center of symptom modification.
The focus is on “How to apply Modern Pain Science in your practice” which is reflected by the approximately 70% of the content in the course being practical exercises intended to increase your communication skills or exercise repertoire. We will debate how to help a patient build confidence in their body, increase their self-efficacy, regain autonomy and become resilient to prepare them for a life with the freedom to choose and to decide what is right in the face of obstacles, independent of a health care provider.
We separate an intervention into 3 different categories; The introduction; The treatment; The strategy and examine what role we as health care providers play in each of those categories and how we build a strong therapeutic alliance.
From the course, you will obtain a wide range of different exercises and the ability to help your client choose specific exercises which produce instant pain relief and improvement in their ability to move. You will be better at communicating in a way which promotes patient decision making and engagement. Most importantly you will become a better skilled, evidence based, health care provider who utilizes the most up to date knowledge on pain and rehabilitation.
Applying new knowledge to your practice is a difficult and time-consuming task and these two days offer you a unique opportunity to practice these new skills with like-minded in a safe, reflective environment build to sharpen your clinical reasoning and performance.
